John Bookman is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Northern Colorado where he taught American politics and political philosophy for thirty-some years. He wrote The Mythology of American Politics: A Critical Response to Fundamental Questions, A Reader’s Companion to The Prince. Leviathan, and the Second Treatise and, with a colleague, The March to Victory: A Guide to World War II Battles and Battlefields from London to the Rhine. Since his retirement, he has spent his days sculpting and fly-fishing. He has three daughters (Leah, Jessica, and Rachel), a marvelous companion (Mary), and a black Lab who is seven.
